Extraordinary Other One suite
I think this might be the 2nd or 3rd best of the fall, edged out slightly by 12/1/71.

Just great!
Another incredible performance from what is currently my favorite period of the Dead's work!
Keith's piano is quite high in the mix in the earlier tracks, which I don't think is a problem. His playing is just perfect - great to see how well he fitted in from the start. He doesn't hold back and he doesn't stick out, just picks up on what's needed.
Everyone's on fire this night. I'm not usually a fan of Big Railroad Blues, but this version just storms out of the Cryptical.. etc. sequence and I love it.
Charlie Miller, as usual, ensures the best possible sound. Or maybe it's Mr. Fink? Kudos to you both!

totally excellent show
Jerry sounds good all night. The first set (from the other source) is very enjoyable. The first sets of 1971 are hard to beat.

The Faster They Go
Really sweet Other One. Phil's tone around this period is really tasty. They won't have Keith's piano sound truly figured out until the spring (still sounds a bit too honky tonkin' for the Other One), but his playing is inspired here.
